Trama:Yoh Asakura è il discendente di un’antichissima famiglia di sciamani. Fin da piccolo è in grado di vedere gli spiriti e, anziché ignorarli o essere spaventato da loro, tende sempre a farci amicizia. Il suo desiderio più grande è vivere in tranquillità.
La storia si apre a Tokyo, dove il ragazzino sciamano inizia a frequentare la scuola insieme a Manta, che, incontrato in un cimitero, scopre le sue abilità di intermediario con gli spiriti e diviene un suo grandissimo amico. Yoh si trova a Tokyo per partecipare allo Shaman Fight, ossia un torneo tra sciamani che si svolge ogni 500 anni per eleggere lo Shaman King, il messia che trasforma la grande distruzione di questo mondo in una grande rigenerazione, unendosi al Grande Spirito e diventando il più potente sciamano sulla terra.
